Maintenance Crew Leader

reports to

Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Crew Leader must be able to perform tasks associated with softscape installations and landscape maintenance, leading a team of 2-5 people.

Requirements

  • Fit enough to perform labour intensive work in various conditions (heat, noise, dust, cold, and yes, even in the rain sometimes)
  • Valid G license with excellent driving record
  • Flexible to lead maintenance team and help on softscape installations as needed
  • Must be excited about protecting clients investments in their properties
  • Ability to operate all relevant equipment such as push mower, string trimmer, leaf blower, gator/utv
  • Basic plant identification
  • Solid understanding of plant health, planting and pruning techniques
  • Pleasure Craft Operators license and boat experience is not required, but is highly valuable

Work schedule

Maintenance crew leaders generally work Monday-Friday, and occasionally on Saturdays if deadlines warrant. During the season, Crew Leaders will work approximately 50 hours/week. This is a seasonal position (Apr-Nov).

Examples of daily tasks

  • Discuss daily plan with crew; attend tailgate meetings and Crew Leader meetings
  • Ensure truck and sites are clean and organized as well as safe
  • Responsible for the completion of daily timesheets for crew
  • Provide performance feedback for crew members
  • Train crew in proper techniques, work procedures, maintenance and safety issues
  • Responsible for the delegation of crew tasks
  • Interact with clients on site when needed, providing exceptional customer service in a polite and courteous manner 
  • Ensure that all PPE is being worn in compliance with company and legislative regulations

  • $24-32/hr

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting (15-30 kg)
  • Repetitive hand movements, grasping, pushing, pulling
  • Work at above shoulder height
  • Reach below shoulder height
  • Exposure to outside weather conditions
  • Exposure to vibration
  • Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
